It is a proud moment for George Clinical, India to collaborate with Project NIRAMAYA, a program for “Creation of Livelihood opportunities through Skill Development in the field of ‘Home Nursing’. In its two-fold agenda of providing sustainable healthcare support to the elderly with unmet needs in rural sectors, this program extends social and financial support for high school students and dropouts thus improving the socioeconomic status of their families.

The future of health policymaking in India requires a sustainable effort for senior citizens as two-thirds of the elderly population in India live in rural villages and nearly 50% of them are of poor socioeconomic status. NIRAMAYA provides structured vocational education training for students in contributing towards resource mobilization, capacity building for specialized geriatric care, grassroot health workers and informal caregivers focusing largely on the lower-income group.
